Football Canada is proud to announce that 13 additional Canadians will be taking part in the International Bowl as members of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) World Development Team.

The IFAF Development Team will practice alongside the World Team in preparation for a showdown on February 1 against Team USA, composed of top prospects from the class of 2012. An additional 8 players will be added to the World Team from the IFAF Development Team, lead by Coordinator, Tim Enger (Football Alberta) as well as defensive line coach, Barclay Spady (Bev Facey H.S.) and quarterback coach, Michael Faulds (York University).

Among the 13 Canadians are Christophe Mulumba, Drew Burko, Adam Melanson, Troy Weissbach and Trent Corney.

This season Christophe was named Defensive Player of the Year in the Erickson League and All-New England (top player in the region). Chris has also participated in the 2009 and 2010 Football Canada Cup as a member of Team Québec where his stellar play earned him tournament all-star selections both years.

Quarterback, Drew Burko is in his first year at the University of Saskatchewan. Burko led Team Saskatchewan to a National (Football Canada Cup) Championship in 2010, earning the nod as a tournament all-star.

Both Adam Melanson and Troy Weissback are two of the top Canadian under-18 defensive linemen, having both earned 2011 Football Canada Cup tournament all-stars selections. Melanson was a member of Team Nova Scotia while Weissback played for host Alberta.

The International Bowl is part of Football Canada’s programs of excellence which provides opportunities for Canadian football players to develop and showcase their abilities nationally as well as internationally. Former Team World participants include top CFL prospect Ben Heenan (University of Saskatchewan), Tyler Crapigna (McMaster University) who kicked the 2011 Vanier Cup winning field goal in double overtime and quarterback Jérémi Doyon-Roch (Université de Sherbrooke) who was named 2011 RSEQ Rookie of the Year.
