2014 Canada Cup schedule released

Football Canada is proud to announce the 2014 Football Canada Cup schedule, taking place July 6 – 12 at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
The Football Canada Cup (FCC) is the premiere pre-university football tournament in Canada which annually showcases the top under-18 football players from across the country.
Four of the last five CIS Rookie of the Year Award winners are alumni of the Canada Cup. Last year’s recipient, Danny Vandervoort (McMaster) participated with Ontario East in 2011. 2012 recipient, Shaquille Johnson (McGill) participated with Ontario West in 2010 as well as in 2008 in the U17 division, 2011 winner Tyler Varga (Western) participated with Ontario West in 2010 while 2009 winner Linden Gaydosh (Calgary) participated with North Alberta in the 2007 U17 division. Additional alumni include Ben Heenan, Israel Idonije, Kirby Fabien, Andy Fantuz, Dan McCullough, Jason Pottinger and Matt Walter.
This year’s edition of the Canada Cup will feature 8 teams from seven provinces including two teams from host Saskatchewan in addition to Quebec, Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
The tournament’s action begins on Sunday July 6 at 10 AM local time and is capped off at 7:30 PM when host Saskatchewan (Green) takes on Manitoba. The first day is critical as those that win can finish no lower than 4th while losing squads are relegated to the consolation bracket where they will battle for seeding in the 2015 event to be held in the province of Quebec.
The second game day features semi-final matchups at 4 and 7 PM respectively.
The final game day begins at 10 AM and concludes when the tournament’s two undefeated teams square off in the gold medal game at 7 PM.
