Quebec-Blue edge defending champions to capture gold on home soil

Quebec-Blue defeated defending champion, Ontario 15-12 in the gold medal game at the 2015 Football Canada Cup from Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu’s Alphonse-Desjardins Stadium in Quebec.

The matchup pitted defending champion Ontario against the host’s top team, Quebec-Blue.

Quebec-Blue drew first blood on a 72-yard touchdown pass as quarterback Ezechiel Tieide found Vincent Forbes-Mombleau all alone following a missed Ontario coverage assignment.

Sask captures bronze in comeback victory over Alberta

2015FCC day 3 AB v SKSaskatchewan defeated Alberta 22-9 to capture bronze on Sunday July 19 at the 2015 Football Canada Cup from Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu’s Alphonse-Desjardins Stadium in Quebec.

Both teams capitalized on mental mistakes and turnovers, leading to the majority of the game’s points.

First Alberta linebacker Joseph Dutton recovered a Sask fumble deep inside enemy territory. Alberta took advantage as kicker Desmond Catellier nailed a 17-yard field goal to give the wild rose province an early 3-0 lead.

Quebec-White flexes its offensive muscle in 5th place game

2015FCC day 3 NS v QC-WQuebec-White captured 5th place on Sunday July 19 with a 51-0 win over Nova Scotia at the 2015 Football Canada Cup from Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu’s Alphonse-Desjardins Stadium in Quebec. With the win Quebec-White improved to a 2-1 tournament record, overcoming an opening day loss.

The host province’s second team came out of the gate early and often, putting up 50 points in the first half.

Quebec got out of the gates on their second possession as quarterback Philip Charpentier connected with Jacob Doucet-Bruyère who maintained his focus to bring in the 30-yard touchdown pass despite the ball being tipped by the secondary.

Manitoba rebounds on day three, defeating NB in the 7th place game

2015 FCC day 3 MB v NBManitoba defeated New Brunswick 48-7, capturing 7th place on Sunday July 19 at the 2015 Football Canada Cup from Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu’s Alphonse-Desjardins Stadium in Quebec.

On the game’s first possession, New Brunswick looked to have their offense clicking as a 17-yard scramble by quarterback David Patry gave them a fresh set of downs near midfield. The Manitoba defence was quick to answer as they brought pressure, forcing and recovering a NB fumble at their opponent’s 45-yard line. A 40-yard Trevor Wright rush would give ’Toba a first and goal at the 1-yard line. Wright would take it in to give Manitoba an early lead. New Brunswick minimized the damage to six as they blocked the extra-point attempt.
