Adam Davies named Football Canada Head Athletic Therapist
Current Carleton Ravens (football) head athletic therapist, Adam Davies, has accepted the same role with Football Canada.
The role will see the Ottawa-area native assist the national governing body in matters relating to athletic therapy. In addition, he will work with Football Canada’s national teams program to help train national team head athletic therapists.
Davies will also serve as the head athletic therapist with Canada’s Junior National Team program for a period covering the 2018 and 2020 IFAF U19 World Championships.
“I’m excited to take on this role with Football Canada,” said Adam Davies. “I’ve already had a chance to get my feet wet with the U19 national team at the 2017 North American Championship in Orlando, but the experience is much different from international softball. It’s always a privilege and honour to wear the maple leaf on your chest.”
“I believe my experiences with Softball Canada, university-level athletes, as well as my recent trip to Orlando with the U19 team will help as I work alongside Football Canada on future projects and further the development of this nation’s athletes.”
He’s served as an athletic therapist with Softball Canada’s Junior and Senior Men’s National Teams since 2005, including most recently with Canada’s gold medal winning entries at the 2015 Toronto Pam Am Games and 2015 WBSC Men’s Softball World Championship.
“Adam brings a tremendous amount of experience to Football Canada,” said Aaron Geisler, manager of development, Football Canada. “He’s been involved in helping Canada excel on the world stage for over a decade and has been working with student-athletes at the highest levels in Canada for many years. His experience will help Football Canada continue to build its high-performance programs.”
Davies has served as head athletic therapist with the Carleton Ravens football team since the program’s revival in 2013. Adam has been with the Ravens since 2004, where he’s worked with the men’s soccer, basketball and hockey programs.
He holds an advanced certificate in athletic therapy from Mount Royal University in addition to an honours bachelor degree in Kinesiology from Lakehead University.
