Coordinators named for 2017 Women’s National Team
Migner, Eddie return for 2nd worlds
Football Canada has named PIERRE MIGNER, OLIVIER EDDIE and RYAN CLUTTERBUCK to its Women’s National Team coaching staff in preparation for the 2017 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Women’s World Championship. Head coach Jeff Yausie’s staff will enjoy continuity as Pierre Migner and Olivier Eddie return from 2013 as the program’s respective defensive and special teams coordinators.
“Returning two coordinators provides a tremendous boost to our Women’s National Team program as we work towards closing the gap between Canada and the U.S.,” said head coach Jeff Yausie, who lead Canada to its second-straight silver medal, falling to defending gold medalist Team USA in the finals, at the IFAF Women’s World Championship in 2013. “As a coaching staff, our tournament experience will help as we work towards this goal at the 2017 IFAF Women’s World Championship. The start of the athlete identification process will take place at the 2016 Senior Women’s National Championship in Regina.”
Pierre Migner has been with the Montreal Blitz, the only Canadian entry in U.S. based Independent Women’s Football League (IWFL), since 2010 where he’s served as defensive coordinator from 2010-2012 before taking over as head coach in 2011.
In 2012, he helped lead the Blitz to an IWFL championship followed by a Founders Bowl victory in 2013. A certified NCCP level 3 coach, Pierre previously served as defensive coordinator with the Lakeshore Cougars from 2000-2011.
Originally from New Brunswick, Canada’s returning special teams coordinator, Olivier Eddie, served the same role with the Regina Riot of the Western Women’s Canadian Football League (WWCFL) in 2014. The following year, in 2015, he took over as the team’s offensive coordinator and receivers coach, helping the Riot to their first ever WWCFL championship.
Eddie began coaching at his alma mater following a five year playing career at Mount Allison University, serving as a special teams assistant from 2010-2012. His first experience coaching women’s tackle football came in 2012 with the Fredericton Lady Gladiators of the Maritime Women’s Football League. That summer, the Dieppe area native served as Team Atlantic offensive coordinator at the 2012 Challenge Cup.
Ryan Clutterbuck brings a wealth of national and international experience, having worked with Team Ontario since 2014. Clutterbuck is a two-time head coach of Ontario’s U17 entry at the 2014 and 2015 Spaulding Cup (regional championship). He also served as head coach of Ontario’s U16 squad at the 2015 International Bowl, returning in 2016 as Ontario’s U17 receivers coach.
From 2012-2014, he also served as offensive coordinator of the CJFL’s London Beefeaters, helping the club capture an Ontario Football Conference (OFC) championship in 2012. From 2010 through 2015, he also served as a graduate assistant and receivers coach with his alma mater, the Western Mustangs.
