DAY 2 RECAP: 2018 FLAG NATIONALS AND UNDER-16 EASTERN FLAG CHAMPIONSHIPS

Medal rounds set for Sunday in Halifax

Saturday saw the second day of action packed games for the 2018 Flag Nationals and the Under-16 Eastern Flag Championships at Saint Mary’s University’s Huskies Stadium in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

In the Female Division of the 2018 Flag Nationals, Saskatchewan earned a 39-0 shutout win over Nova Scotia, Quebec cruised to a 26-0 win over Ontario, Manitoba edged Saskatchewan 20-19, Quebec crushed Nova Scotia 49-0 and Ontario got by Manitoba 6-0.

Ontario and Manitoba ended up with 3-1-0 records.  Quebec is 2-1-1 while Saskatchewan is 1-2-1.  Nova Scotia is winless with a 0-4-0 mark.

Heading into the final day, Ontario is ranked first, Manitoba is second, Quebec is the third seed, Saskatchewan is ranked fourth and Nova Scotia is fifth.

Meanwhile in the Male Division, Saskatchewan got by Quebec 20-13, Manitoba got past British Columbia 27-20, Ontario defeated Nova Scotia 21-12, British Columbia was victorious over Saskatchewan 25-18, Ontario won 20-13 over Quebec and Manitoba earned a 39-0 shutout victory over Nova Scotia.

Manitoba remains undefeated with a 5-0 record.  Then, British Columbia is 4-1 and Ontario is 3-2.  There is a three way tie between Quebec, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia who all have 1-4 marks.

Therefore, Manitoba is ranked first, British Columbia second and Ontario third.  After using tiebreaker formulas, Quebec is seeded fourth, Saskatchewan fifth and Nova Scotia sixth.

As for the Female Division of the Under-16 Eastern Flag Championships, Quebec (3) earned a 39-0 shutout win over Nova Scotia (2), Quebec (2) defeated Nova Scotia (1) 14-0, Quebec (1) trampled on Quebec (3) 39-0, Quebec (2) handled Nova Scotia (2) 35-0 and Quebec (1) sailed past Nova Scotia (1) 25-6.

The standings after day two are Quebec (2) with a 4-0 record, Quebec (1) with a 3-1 mark, Nova Scotia (1) at 2-2, Quebec (3) with a 1-3 record and Nova Scotia (2) at  0-4.

Quebec (2) is ranked first, Quebec (1) is seeded second, Nova Scotia (1) is third, Quebec 3 is ranked fourth and Nova Scotia (2) is fifth.

Finally in the Male Division, Ontario defeated Nova Scotia (1) 27-0, Nova Scotia (2) cruised to a 33-14 win over Quebec, Nova Scotia (1) got past Quebec 19-6, Ontario downed Nova Scotia (2) 31-25, Quebec and Ontario tied 26-26 and Nova Scotia (2) earned a 12-0 win over Nova Scotia (1).

Ontario finishes atop the standings with a 5-0-1 mark while Nova Scotia (2) is 3-3-0, Nova Scotia (1) has a 2-4-0 record and Quebec  is 1-4-1.

Heading into Sunday, Ontario is ranked first, Nova Scotia (2) is second, Nova Scotia (1) is seeded third and Quebec is fourth.
