After being knocked out of the medal round, British Columbia rebounded and coasted to a 23-10 victory over Mantioba at the 2018 Football Canada Cup in Calgary, Alberta’s Shouldice Park.

With the win, British Columbia winds up fifth.  Meanwhile, Manitoba ends the tournament in sixth place.

Manitoba opened the scoring with a single and also got additional points when British Columbia conceded a safety.

Only 17 seconds into the second quarter, Keelan White tallied a major to give British Columbia the lead.

Over 2 minutes and 38 seconds later, Isaac Dokken scored a touchdown for Manitoba.

With 2:08 left before the half, Ethan Bernardin pushed into the end zone for a major for British Columbia.

At halftime, British Columbia lead Manitoba 14-10.

Nolan Ulm sealed the victory over Manitoba with a big sprint down the field for a touchdown.

Offensive Players of the Game were Ulm (British Columbia) and Breydon Stubbs (Manitoba).  Defensive Players of the Game were Jeremy Sinclair (British Columbia) and Isaiah Letander (Manitoba).

“When you have those early games they kind of kill you,” commented British Columbia Head Coach Cory Philpot after the game.”  I’ve been there before.”

“It was important for us to wake up and get the rhythm going. Once we could get that rolling, we were successful.”

For Manitoba, their loss came as a result of timely opportunities that British Columbia capitalized on during the game.

“We had two special teams turnovers that they turned in 14 points on us,” assessed Manitoba Head Coach Ryan Karhut.  “We lost by thirteen so I think that pretty much clears it up.”
