Football Canada adds three to roster for women’s worlds
Brunet, Matwyczuk and Ruller join Team Canada

Football Canada has added receiver Rose-Amélie Brunet (Ste-Barbe, QC), defensive tackle Alexa Matwyczuk (Winnipeg, MB) and defensive back Amanda Ruller (Regina, SK) to its women’s national team roster in preparation for the 2017 Women’s World Championship, taking place June 24 – 30 in Langley, BC.
The trio of players were selected from the team’s reserve roster, replacing Emilie Halle, Marci Halseth, and Jill Fast.
“We’ve added three quality players to our roster today,” said Canada’s head coach, Jeff Yausie. “The season is currently in full-swing across the country and given the timing of the event, we expected injuries to a few of our players during their training and spring seasons. I hate to see this happen to Emilie, Marci and Jill but at the same time, it opens up a spot for another player to step up and fill a role with the national team.”
“We’re now just under a month away from the start of tournament and everyone is getting excited to begin. Our training camp opens on June 17 and we’ll use that time to come together as a team and prepare to represent Canada on home soil in Langley.”
