Nathan Laflamme is a 5’11, 175-pound defensive back from Ste-Therese, Quebec who will be representing Canada at the 2018 IFAF World Junior Championships in Mexico City, Mexico next month.

The defensive standout’s first taste of the gridiron came when he started playing in the backyard.

“I was playing in the backyard of my elementary school,” Laflamme recalled.  “After that, I told my mom that I wanted to play football.”

“I was playing football the next season.”

Among the teams Laflamme has played for during his career include Laurentian Wildcats and RSEQ Juvenile 1B’s Centurions-Polyvalente Deux-Montagnes. Currently, the defensive back is suiting up for CEGEP Division 1 team Andre-Grasset Phenix.

While representing his home province, Laflamme experienced the highlight of his career when Team Quebec won gold at the 2015 Football Canada Cup in Saint-Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec.

Laflamme says that his brother Felix is his role model because he played for Team Canada three times in his career as well as USports team Montreal Carabins.

“I look at him a lot of times in my football career and I try to copy him,” he added.

This past January, Laflamme represented Canada at the 2018 International Bowl in Arlington, Texas as a member of the Under-19 team.

“It was a crazy experience playing against the United States,” he reflected.  “I was looking at the depth chart and I was like “these guys are pretty good”; it was a great experience.”

Happy and excited about the opportunity to represent his country at the 2018 IFAF World Junior Championships, the defensive back plans to make the most of his time down in Mexico City.

“It means a lot; it’s kind of like the Olympics,” Laflamme expressed.  “I am excited about playing against other countries.”
