John Lilley is a receiver from Halifax, Nova Scotia who will be participating at the 2018 International Bowl as a part of the Under-16 Eastern Canadian Team.

The offensive standout began playing football at the age of three.

“I saw a pamphlet for flag football and I wanted to try it,” he elaborated.

During his gridiron career, Lilley has played for the Halifax Argos organization.

This past summer, the receiver helped Team Nova Scotia win gold at the Under-16 Eastern Challenge in Wolfville.

“That was a very fun experience,” recalled Lilley.  “I got to go up there with a bunch of friends on my football team, we balled out and we won.”

Lilley has mirrored his style of play to New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Moreover, his current head coach Alan Wetmore has been a positive influence on Lilley’s life on and off the field.

“He’s a big role model in my life,” Lilley expressed.

From the moment that he learned he made the national team via social media, the receiver has been hyped about representing Canada at the 2018 International Bowl.

“It means a lot to me that I get to be one of the players specially picked to get to go there,” said Lilley.  “It’s a big deal for me and it just means a lot.”
