Jaxon Hume is a receiver from Edmonton, Alberta who will be participating at the 2018 International Bowl as a member of the U16 Western Canadian Team this upcoming January in Arlington, Texas.

In 2006, the offensive standout got his first introduction into the sport.

“I used to go watch my brother play football and I always wanted to be like him,” recalled Hume.

Among the teams the receiver has played for include the Millwood Grizzlies and Harry Ainlay Titans of the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA).

Last summer, Hume enjoyed the highlight of his career when he helped Team Alberta win gold at the 2017 Under-16 Western Challenge.

“On the field, it was one of the warmest games I had ever played,” reflected the Alberta native of the tournament.  “I never experienced playing in 31 degrees for the entire week but I loved the challenge I had to face.”

“I never played against other provinces before and that was really enjoyable for me.”

Relived that he saw on social media that he was selected to take part in the 2018 International Bowl, he is looking forward for the opportunity to showcase his talents while representing Canada south of the border.

“It really means a lot to me because I’ve wanted to do it since 2016,” said the receiver.  “I saw my other teammates go down there to represent Alberta for U16 and I’ve always said I wanted to do that.”

One of Hume’s main gridiron influences has been his father.

“He was my head coach in peewee, atom and bantam,” added Hume.

Additionally, he has looked up to his brother as a source of support and encouragement.

“He would always drive me back, we would get lunch and we would talk about what I did right, what I did wrong, what could be better,” expressed Hume.  “It has been very helpful for me.”
