Get to know U19 National Team Receiver Glodin Mulali

Glodin Mulali is a wide receiver from Moncton, New Brunswick who will participate at the 2018 International Bowl in Arlington, Texas as a member of the National Under-19 team.
The wide receiver was introduced to the sport by his friend three years ago.
“The first time I got introduced to football, I thought it was soccer because that’s what we call football back in Nigeria,” he recalled. “I came here and my friend told me to try out for football, so I did and I found out it was not soccer.”
“I just wanted to try something new and since then, it has changed my life a lot.”
During his career, Mulali has played for the Harrison Trimble Trojans of the New Brunswick High School Football League (NBHSFL), Team New Brunswick and the Moncton Mustangs of the Maritime Football League (MFL).
Currently, the offensive standout is suiting up for the Atlantic University Sports’ (AUS) Acadia Axemen.
Mulali credits his father for being a source of encouragement and motivation.
“He taught me a lot,” he added. “He taught me to definitely never give up on something and that nothing is impossible.”
“He’s told me things that has changed my life completely. He told me never to make the same mistakes he made.”
Moreover, his mother has been an inspiration to him.
“My mother is really hard working,” Mulali said. “She’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
With his selection to the National Under-19 team, it will be the second straight year Mulali has represented his country, which was the highlight of his career.
“When we play provincials, it’s like a lot of guys got called and I wanted to be one of those guys,” reflected Mulali of the process. “It was one of the best things that happened to me.”
“First of all, I got to travel to the States to play football which is like everyone’s dream from Canada and compete against the best guys from there. It was such a huge pleasure representing Canada. The whole atmosphere was well organized. It was only a week, but it was the best week of my life.”
From the moment Axemen Head Coach and National Under-19 coach Jeff Cummins shared the news with Mulali that he made the team, the wide receiver has been emotional about having another opportunity to play for Canada.
“It means a lot to me,” he expressed. “Just with the fact that a lot of people are going to be watching the game, hoping to be one of those guys sometime in the future.”
“It’s a huge pleasure to be representing the whole country.”
