Jérémi Roch, a fifth-year quarterback from Université de Sherbrooke, continued to rewrite the CIS football record book on Saturday as he became the all-time career passing yards leader in a 45-10 home win over McGill.

Jérémi is a Team Canada, International Bowl and Canada Cup alumni. Roch participated in 2008 Football Canada Cup, helping Quebec to a gold medal in the U17 division. The following July, Roch helped Canada to silver at the inaugural 2009 IFAF U19 (then Junior) World Championship in Canton, Ohio. The following winter, he also participated in the inaugural International Bowl in 2010 as a member of the IFAF World Team.

A native of LaSalle, Que., Roch entered the contest with 10,748 career yards, only 63 behind Michael Faulds, who had 10,811 during his brilliant five-year run with Western (2005-2009).

Roch racked up 216 yards through the air in less than three quarters of action against the Redmen to push the new national standard to 10,964. He completed 11 of 16 passes for three touchdowns and no interceptions.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound administration student set the new record in style, connecting with Carl Gagnon-Bisaillon for a 47-yard score 4:16 into the second quarter to the delight of over 2,000 fans at UdeS Stadium.

With two conference games remaining in his career, at Laval on Oct. 25 and at home against Bishop’s on Halloween day, Roch is now the all-time CIS leader in passing yards, attempts (1,400) and completions (828). He established the new national marks for career attempts and completions in Sherbrooke’s last contest, two weeks ago against Montreal.

NOTE: With 65 touchdown passes in his career, Roch is one shy of the RSEQ conference record held by former Laval standout Benoit Groulx (2005-2009). He ranks ninth on the all-time CIS list, 22 behind the standard set by Saint Mary’s Chris Flynn (1987-1990).
