Henkewich, Chinn and Mullin elected to Board

Longtime Football Saskatchewan president, Kim Wudrick (Saskatoon, SK) was elected president of Football Canada by acclamation at the organization’s 2016 Annual General Meeting, June 18, 2016 in Banff, Alberta. Saturday’s Board of Directors vote also saw the election of Rick Henkewich (Winnipeg, MB), Shannon Chinn (Ottawa, ON) and Jim Mullin (Vancouver, BC).

“I’m looking forward to my new role as president of Football Canada and over the next three years, I hope to help improve communication, collaboration and engagement within our membership and stakeholders,” Kim Wudrick said. “This role is something I’ve wanted for a while and I think the previous Board has the ship steering in the right direction. I just hope to follow that path and keep on going.”

Joining Football Saskatchewan’s Board of Directors in 1996, Wudrick began as the province’s president in 2006 and will need to relinquish his provincial presidency to take on the position with Football Canada. Wudrick first served on Football Canada’s Board of Directors from 2003-2011 before rejoining in 2015.

The three newly elected board members bring a wide array of expertise to Football Canada.

Henkewich, the owner and operator of NRS Consulting, serves as commissioner of the Winnipeg High School Football League and will begin his second term with Football Canada’s Board of Directors.

Shannon Chinn, who currently works as manager of partnerships and activation with Senators Sports & Entertainment, joins Football Canada’s board for the first time. Shannon holds the distinction of being the first female candidate elected to Football Canada’s Board of Directors. She has extensive marketing and sponsorship experience including time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, TrojanOne and SC Consulting.

Jim Mullin joins the board in a full capacity, after serving the past year as an appointed member. He currently works as host and producer of Krown Countdown U and is best known as a play-by-play personality for his work on Krown Canada West Football on Shaw.

Also rejoining the board after the completion of his first term is Louie Velocci, the national CIO-advisory leader for KPMG LLP in Canada.  In addition to his role as chair of the national governing body’s finance committee, Louie coaches football at both the high school and provincial levels in addition to serving on both the Dartmouth Minor Football Association and Football Nova Scotia’s Board of Directors.

Football Canada would like to thank outgoing president Richard MacLean as well as longtime board member Ian Smith for all their years of service. MacLean will continue his role with IFAF as chairman of the Americas.
