Football Canada Athletes with a Disability

Football Canada became a member of the Canadian Paralympic Committee in 2009 in part to improve the opportunity to play, coach, officiate to everyone regardless of ability.

Football Canada offers guidance to coaches, teachers, volunteers and players to modify the sport for the particular set of skills and abilities of youth and adult players and teams. A flag football rule book for people with disabilities is available as is the touch wheelchair football rule book.

Long term development for Athletes with a Disability (AWAD) includes establishing a national league for disabled players. Football Canada is currently researching the best ways to facilitate this program.
