Registration now open for Football Canada Coaches Convention, July 10-11 in Saskatoon
Registration is now open for the 2014 Football Canada Coaches Convention taking place July 10-11 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at SaskTel Sportscenter/Centennial Collegiate (150 Nelson Road, S7S 1P5).
The event features presentations from top local, provincial and national coaches from across Canada. It is also NCCP accredited meaning that those in attendance will receive professional development credits in addition to NCCP accreditation should they attend position or systems workshops.
Speaker line-up includes:
- Ed Carleton, defensive coordinator, University of Saskatchewan
- Iain Maclean, head coach, Edmonton Huskies (CJFL)
- Chris Morris, head coach, University of Alberta
- Darcy Park, head coach, Edmonton Wildcats (CJFL)
- Ryan Karhut, head coach, Winnipeg Rifles (CJFL)
- Steve Sumarah, head coach, Carleton University
- Chris Marcus, special teams coordinator, Western University
- Scott Brady, defensive coordinator, Mt. Allison University
- Many more to be announced shortly
The event begins on the evening of Thursday July 10 with Safe Contact training as well as a Competition Development module. The Competition Development module is restricted to current CIS, NCAA, CJFL, or CEGEP coaches. The Safe Contact training is available to those that wish to take the module which will continue on Friday in conjunction with the convention. Those taking Safe Contact will also be able to attend the convention’s opening and closing speaker presentations on Friday.
The convention itself kicks-off on Friday with presentations from 9 AM – 5 PM with dinner provided following the closing speaker. A Safety Summit featuring experts from across Canada follows from 6 – 9 PM while the night is capped off with a social from 9 – 11 PM.
