WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Team Saskatchewan rallied late in the fourth quarter on one hard dive by quarterback Drew Burko to break a 10-10 tie with Team Quebec to capture the 2010 Under-18 Football Canada Cup championship under the lights of Raymond Field in Wolfville, NS.

Head Coach Mike Humenny was elated by the performance of every last person on Team Saskatchewan. “I am just so proud of these guys right now with 40 players, 7 coaches and three support staff. Our goal was to win the first game on Sunday. Winning Wednesday was a big step for us. Today we were tied 3-3 at the half, and we thought if they (players) did all the right things in the second half we would win and they came out and did it”.

Tied at three after one half of play, Team Quebec took advantage of a late third quarter fumble recovered by Felix Gobeil-Lapointe on the Saskatchewan 29 yard line.

Anthony Auclair completed a 26 yard pass to Eli-Christophe Bouka on the second play of the two play touchdown series to push Quebec ahead 10-3.

Saskatchewanresponded immediately, tying that game at ten on an 83 yard drive that was capped by a 15 yard touchdown catch by Addison Richards from Drew Burko.

With four minutes remaining on the game clock and good field position, Team Saskatchewan marched the ball 46 yards down field, ending the drive on a one yard Drew Burko dive into the end zone for the eventual winning touchdown.

A Sean Stenger missed field goal at 1:17 added one more point to the board for the 18-10 win over Team Quebec.

Taylor Flavel, named the offensive player of the game, added 111 yards on 11 carries to the 400 yards net offense delivered by Team Saskatchewan. Teammate Drew Burko was good for 13 passes on 30 attempts for 200 yard.  Burko spread the wealth to several receivers including Addison Richards, Nathan Schulte and Mitchell Thompson who had 43, 49 and 37 yards respectively.

Quebec, who only netted 215 yards of offense against a stingy Saskatchewan defense, relied on Guilluame L’Abbé’s 63 yards on seven carries and Eli-Christophe Bouka’s 62 yards receiving on five receptions.

Players of the Game:
