U18 National Team final roster announced as squad busily making preparations for 2019 International Bowl game against rival United States

by footballcanada

This is an exciting week for 38 players who will show their Maple Leaf pride while representing their country down south.

The 2019 International Bowl has been ongoing in Arlington, Texas. Since this past weekend,  U18 National Team, led by 2018 IFAF World Junior Championship gold medal winning head coach Steve Sumarah, have been busily making final preparations through practices and meetings before the big showdown against the United States on Friday January 18th, 2019.

Provincially, Quebec and Saskatchewan have fielded nine athletes on the final roster.  Meanwhile, Alberta is represented by seven players, Ontario has four, Manitoba with three as well as British Columbia, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia each with two athletes.

Highlighting this final roster are the three MVP’s from the 2018 Football Canada Cup which was held last July in Calgary Alberta – quarterback Keegan Kaytor and linebacker Ramsay Derbas who led Saskatchewan to the gold medal at the tournament and receiver Adley Mayala who helped Alberta claim silver.

Additionally, the U18 National Team will have experience on their side with the return of several players from the 2018 International Bowl.  Defensive back Lucas Cormier, defensive lineman Yshad-Shane Benjamin and receiver Keelan White helped Canada win the under-18 game last January at Cowboys Stadium as the team cruised to a 44-26 win over rival United States.

Offensive lineman Thomas Brow represented the National Under-16 East team while running back Ryker Frank was part of the National Under-16 West team at the 2018 International Bowl Jamboree.
