- Football Manitoba is set to host the 2026 U16 Western Regional Challenge in Winnipeg, Manitoba, from June 30th to July 6th, showcasing the next generation of Canadian football talent. This regional competition brings together Under-16 (U16) teams from neighbouring provinces, providing young athletes and coaches with their first taste of tournament-style play in a supportive and competitive environment.
- As a cornerstone of Football Canada’s long-term athlete development pathway, the U16 Western Regional Challenge plays a vital role in introducing athletes to high-performance football. The event typically features provincial teams from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia competing in a condensed, high-intensity tournament that includes semifinal matchups followed by bronze and gold medal games.
- The Western Challenge also carries a growing legacy of high-level competition. In recent years, Team Saskatchewan has established itself as a dominant force, capturing consecutive titles dating back to 2019—including victories over Alberta in the 2024 and 2025 finals—highlighting the province’s strong development system and raising the competitive standard across the region.
