REGINA (July 12, 2024) – It will be an all-Central Canada contest for the gold medal at the Football Canada Cup. The third and final game day of Football Canada’s national under-18 men’s football championship is set for Mosaic Stadium on Saturday, with games starting at 10 a.m. and running through until the championship at 7 p.m.

Ontario booked its spot in the final with a 32-7 win over Saskatchewan on Wednesday, while Quebec edged Alberta 12-11 for their second straight semifinal win. Saturday’s gold medal game will be a rematch of the 2015 final in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., which Quebec won 15-12. Ontario’s last championship came in 2014, coincidentally the last time the tournament was held in Saskatchewan, when they downed the hosts 27-19. The last matchup between the two since 2015 was in the 2022 bronze-medal game, which Quebec won 26-17 in Kelowna.

The bronze medal game, set to kick off at 4 p.m., will feature an all-Prairie matchup, as Alberta will take on Saskatchewan in a rematch of the 2022 championship game, which Saskatchewan won 13-1. The two have played for bronze once previously, with Saskatchewan winning 22-9 in 2015.

The fifth-place game, schedule for a 1 p.m. start, will see New Brunswick take on Manitoba. New Brunswick outlasted B.C. 16-12 in their consolation semifinal, while Manitoba downed Nova Scotia 29-9 in the other. This will be the seventh meeting all time between the two provinces, but the first since 2019.

The day’s action kicks off at 10 a.m. with Nova Scotia and British Columbia battling for seventh spot. The teams last met in 2019, when B.C. took out Nova Scotia 37-17 on Day 2 of the event.
