Québec claims the 2024 U18 Women’s National Championship Bronze Medal after defeating Manitoba 24-6
July 28, 2024, Fredericton, NB – In a hard-fought Bronze Medal match, Quebec emerged victorious with a 24-6 win over Manitoba at the 2024 U18 Women’s National Championship at BMO Centre in Fredericton, NB, on Sunday afternoon.
Quebec’s balanced attack and opportunistic defense proved too much for Manitoba. Quarterback Emilie Hubert led the Quebec offense, completing 12 of 32 passes for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wide receiver Doryanh Odige was Hubert’s primary target, catching 4 passes for 165 yards and all three of Quebec’s receiving touchdowns.
Quebec took an early lead with Doryanh Odige’s 61-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. Manitoba responded in the second quarter with Norah Vaillant’s 18-yard touchdown run, but Quebec quickly regained control, scoring two more touchdowns before halftime.
The second half saw Quebec extend their lead, with Odige securing her third touchdown reception of the game, a 60-yard catch in the third quarter.
Manitoba’s offense was led by Eden Gates, who rushed for 134 yards on 37 carries. Norah Vaillant contributed 68 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Defensively, Annie Debray led Quebec with 10 solo tackles, 7 assists, and a fumble recovery. For Manitoba, Sam Breier stood out with 8 solo tackles, 2 assists, and 5 pass breakups.
