Saskatoon Hilltops to Host Okanagan Sun in 117th Canadian Bowl November 9th
SASKATOON, SK (November 8, 2025) – The 117th Canadian Bowl will be contested this Sunday, November 9, at SMF Field in Saskatoon as the Saskatoon Hilltops host the Okanagan Sun for the Canadian Junior Football League national championship.
This marks the fourth Canadian Bowl meeting between the two storied programs. Saskatoon has won three of the previous encounters, including a 38–24 victory in 2015. Okanagan’s lone win came in 2000 on home turf.
The Hilltops enter the championship as Prairie Football Conference champions following a dramatic playoff run. After a semifinal win over the Winnipeg Rifles, Saskatoon overcame a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the top-seeded Regina Thunder 30–27 in overtime in the PFC final. The Hilltops are pursuing their 24th national title and their first since 2023.
The Okanagan Sun arrive in Saskatoon representing the British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) with a perfect 13–0 record. The Sun earned their place in the national final with a 34–19 victory over the St. Clair Saints in the CJFL semifinals, storming back with 34 unanswered points in the second half. Okanagan is seeking its fourth Canadian Bowl championship, having previously claimed titles in 1988, 2000, and 2022.
Both teams feature balanced offensive attacks and strong defensive units. Saskatoon’s ground game is led by running back David Collins, who recorded 1,028 yards and 13 touchdowns during the regular season. Quarterbacks Griffen Sander and Brexton Elias have split duties throughout the playoffs, providing versatility under centre.
Okanagan’s offence is powered by quarterback Liam Kroeger, who led the BCFC with 2,860 passing yards and 26 touchdowns, and running back Gerren Hardisty, who rushed for 1,025 yards and nine touchdowns. The Sun also boast one of the strongest defences in the country, highlighted by multiple defensive scores in their semifinal win.
The Hilltops will host the Canadian Bowl for the first time since 2018, when they captured their fifth consecutive national title. Sunday’s championship will be played on the artificial turf at SMF Field, part of the Gordie Howe Sports Complex.
Kickoff for the 117th Canadian Bowl is set for 11 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Central. The game will be broadcast live on CJFLTV pay-per-view and AM1150 radio.
