Alberta takes home Bronze, beating host Saskatchewan 35-0 at the 2024 Football Canada Cup
July 14th – REGINA, SK – Team Alberta dominated Saskatchewan in a one-sided battle, securing a decisive 35-0 victory in the Bronze Medal game of the 2024 Football Canada Cup on Saturday, July 13, at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Alberta’s offense was firing on all cylinders, amassing 431 total yards compared to Saskatchewan’s meager 76. The game started with Alberta taking control early and never looking back:
Alberta struck quickly in the first quarter when Kohen Bohnet scored on a 27-yard touchdown run at 11:31, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
The second quarter saw Alberta extend their lead with two more touchdowns. Liam Piccinin caught a 20-yard touchdown pass at 9:21, followed by a spectacular 63-yard touchdown reception by Aldin Bilalbegovic at 7:03, pushing the score to 21-0 at halftime.
Alberta continued their dominance in the third quarter with Seth Poelzer scoring on a 7-yard touchdown run at 10:23.
The final quarter saw Alberta add one more score when Ethan Grannum caught a 9-yard touchdown pass at 8:32, bringing the final score to 35-0.
Quarterback Kohen Bohnet led Alberta’s passing attack, completing 12 of 16 passes for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns. Seth Poelzer spearheaded the ground game with 91 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
