July 14th – REGINA, SK – British Columbia secured a convincing 25-5 victory over Nova Scotia in the final round of the 2024 Football Canada Cup on Saturday, July 13, at Leibel Field in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The game unfolded as a defensive battle in the first half, with each team struggling to find offensive rhythm:
British Columbia opened the scoring with a single point on an 11-yard field goal by Hudson Jones at 10:30 in the first quarter. Nova Scotia responded with a safety at 1:54, taking a brief 2-1 lead.
The second quarter saw British Columbia regain control. Brady Doucette scored on a 25-yard pass reception at 9:24, followed by a successful convert. Hudson Jones added another single point at 7:20, extending British Columbia’s lead to 9-2 at halftime.
British Columbia’s offense found its stride in the third quarter. Logan Rubel scored on a 1-yard touchdown run at 11:06, and Jack Roberts added another touchdown on a 4-yard pass reception at 6:36. Nova Scotia managed to add a field goal, but British Columbia’s lead grew to 22-5.
In the final quarter, British Columbia sealed their victory with a single point at 9:15 and another field goal at 1:54, bringing the final score to 25-5.
British Columbia’s offense outgained Nova Scotia 270 yards to 259. Quarterback Matthew Chapman completed 15 of 16 passes for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also led the ground attack with 135 yards on 14 carries.
Nova Scotia’s offense struggled to find consistency. Quarterback Jesse Allison completed 18 of 34 passes for 258 yards but was intercepted twice. Leo Mont led their rushing efforts with 13 yards on 3 carries.
