Canada Senior Women’s Flag Football National team secures Olympic qualification following their 20-6 win over Mexico at the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships
Football Canada is excited to announce the Women’s Senior Flag Football National Team has officially secured a place at the LA28 Olympic Games, following a standout performance at the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Canada opened the scoring early and continued to build momentum, finding the end zone four times. Caroline Moquin-Joubert scored twice, followed by touchdowns from Alexane Fournier in the closing minutes. Canada’s balanced offensive attack and timely execution powered the team to a 20-6 win over Mexico, securing its Olympic qualification spot for LA28.

“I am so proud of this team. Qualifying for the LA28 Olympic Games is a reflection of the discipline, resilience and trust this team has built over the course of this process, and they’ve earned every bit of this opportunity at the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships. Canadian flag football is on the rise, and we’re honoured to officially be able to help carry that momentum to the 2028 Olympic games,” said Rachel Lessard, Head Coach, Senior Women’s National Flag Football Team
With Olympic qualification secured, the women’s senior national team now turns its focus to LA28 and the opportunity to represent Canada as flag football makes its Olympic debut in 2028, a historic milestone for the sport and for Canadian athletes.
“This is an incredible moment for our women’s flag football team and everyone who has supported them along the way. This group worked incredibly hard for this moment, delivered an outstanding performance and it goes without saying that they’ve earned it. We’re thrilled to see them officially secure their place on the Olympic stage, and we can’t wait to see what they do in Los Angeles,” said Eva Havaris, Chief Executive Officer, Football Canada.
