Edmonton, AB – November 17, 2025 – Football Canada is proud to announce that Scott Woloshin, our Manager of Officials Development, has been appointed to the International Federation of American Football Flag Football Rules Committee.

With more than a decade of officiating experience at national and international levels, Woloshin has earned a reputation for precision, fairness, and a deep respect for the game. His career highlights include serving as Field Judge for the Men’s gold medal game between the USA and Austria at the 2018 IFAF World Championships one of the sport’s most high-profile assignments, being assigned the Side Judge for the 2025 Men’s Gold Medal game between USA and Mexico (rained out), as well as officiating multiple Canadian National Championships.

Beyond his on-field accomplishments, Woloshin is a Master Official Developer and a driving force behind Football Canada’s officiating education and development programs. His leadership has elevated officiating standards across the country, helping to grow a new generation of skilled and confident officials.

“I’m extremely excited to join this committee and contribute to the evolution of the game on a global scale,” Woloshin said. “This is a tremendous opportunity to help shape the future of flag football and support officials globally, while continuing to show the world that Canada can help lead the charge not only developing a world class program, but also world class officials”

“I cannot thank IFAF’s Selection Committee enough for entrusting me to help shape the sport flag football world wide”

As the sport prepares for its Olympic debut, Woloshin sees his role on the committee as a chance to ensure the rules support both competitive excellence and the safety of participants.

Woloshin’s approach is rooted in leaning on data-driven decision making and a keen understanding of how rules can enhance player experience, something that Football Canada is confident will bring both innovation and balance to the committee’s work.

“It takes only 30 seconds after meeting Scott to see why this was the natural next step in his career,” said Football Canada Executive Director Kevin McDonald. “Scott’s deep love for the rulebook, his passion and skill in highlighting the great people who wear the stripes to make the game better, are infectious, reflecting someone who cares deeply about how the rules shape every aspect of football. The sport will be more exciting, accessible, and fair because of his guidance.”

Football Canada congratulates Scott on this well-earned appointment and look forward to the impact his expertise will have on the sport worldwide and here at home.
