Six National Teams Come Together in Chula Vista Ahead of International Competition

by FBC

CHULA VISTA, Caliornia — Football Canada’s National Flag Football program took a major step forward as all six National Teams gathered in Chula Vista, California for a week-long training camp ahead of a busy summer of international competition.

The camp brought together the Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s National Teams, along with Canada’s four Junior National Teams (15U Girls, 15U Boys, 17U Girls, and 17U Boys), creating a unique environment where athletes from across the national pathway trained side-by-side while representing Canada.

Throughout the week, athletes participated in on-field training sessions, classroom meetings, team-building activities, and competitive preparations as they continued their journey toward representing Canada on the international stage.

For many athletes, the camp provided an opportunity to learn from and interact with members of the Senior National Teams, while coaches from across the program worked collaboratively to reinforce Football Canada’s high-performance standards and national team culture.

The week also included joint training opportunities with USA Football, providing valuable experience against one of the world’s top flag football nations. The international environment allowed athletes to test themselves against elite competition while continuing to build toward future events, including the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships and future international competitions.

Following the conclusion of training camp, Canada’s Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s National Teams travelled to Los Angeles to compete in exhibition games against USA Football, while Canada’s four Junior National Teams participated in the Junior International Cup from June 19–21. The competitions provided valuable opportunities for athletes across the national program to gain experience against top international opposition while proudly representing the Maple Leaf.

In addition to preparing for competition, the camp served as an important opportunity to strengthen connections across the program and showcase the continued growth of flag football in Canada. With athletes from coast to coast wearing the Maple Leaf, Chula Vista highlighted both the depth of talent within the Canadian system and the bright future of the sport.

As the camp concludes, Canada’s National Teams now turn their attention to the next phase of competition, carrying forward the lessons, experiences, and momentum gained during an unforgettable week in Chula Vista.
