Ottawa, ON – June 17th – Football Canada is pleased to announce the addition of Alexandre Desjardins to the Senior Women’s National Flag Team coaching staff as Offensive Coordinator. A leading figure in the growth and development of flag football in Quebec and Canada, Desjardins brings an extensive coaching résumé, a proven record of championship success, and years of leadership at both the national and international levels.

Desjardins has been instrumental in shaping women’s flag football domestically, building the University of Montreal Women’s Flag Football program into one of the nation’s premier teams. Under his leadership, the program has captured multiple RSEQ championships and national titles, while compiling an outstanding 74-10 overall record since 2021. Beyond the university level, he has played a key role in the growth of the Quebec University Women’s Flag Football League, helping to create new competitive pathways for female athletes across the province.

Internationally, Desjardins brings valuable experience to Canada’s national program, having served as a coach at numerous major events. His resume includes coaching Canada to a bronze medal at the 2018 IFAF Women’s World Championships in Panama, as well as leading teams to multiple podium finishes at the Americas Championship, International Bowl, and several USA Flag World and National Championship tournaments. His recent accomplishments include multiple gold medals in 5v5 non-contact, Olympic-style, and Air-it-Out divisions at USA Flag events between 2022 and 2024.

In addition to his extensive flag football experience, Desjardins has coached tackle football for over 13 years, holding leadership positions with Collège André-Grasset and Collège Regina Assumpta, earning several RSEQ Bol d’Or provincial championships at the D1, D2, and D3 levels.

Desjardins also brings years of experience in sport administration, athlete development, and program leadership through his various roles as athletic director, program manager, league director, and competition organizer. His comprehensive understanding of athlete development, team culture, and system design will serve as a major asset as Football Canada builds toward its next phase of international competition.

He joins the national team staff as the Women’s Program prepares for key events this year, including the 2025 International Bowl in Los Angeles (June 21–22, 2025) and the 2025 IFAF Americas Flag Championship in Panama (September 12–14, 2025) and The World Games in from August 7th to 17th August 2025 in Chengdu, China.
