OTTAWA, ON – Football Canada is pleased to announce the Top 24 athletes selected to the 2026 Senior Women’s National Flag Football Team following the Selection Camp held earlier this month in Montreal, Quebec.

The selected athletes will continue through the high-performance pathway as Canada prepares for the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships in Düsseldorf, Germany this August, a tournament that will serve as the first opportunity for nations to secure qualification toward flag football’s historic debut at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Flag football has been officially added to the Olympic program for LA28, marking a major milestone for the sport globally and creating a new era of international competition for Canadian athletes.

The roster was selected following a multi-day national evaluation process led by Head Coach Rachel Lessard and Football Canada’s high-performance staff, bringing together athletes from across the country to compete for a place within the program.

“We’re proud to announce this Top 24 group and to recognize the depth of talent we saw at camp,” said Warren Craney, Director of High Performance, Coaching, and Athlete Development. “Coach Lessard, ran a thorough and rigorous selection camp process, making final selections incredibly difficult because the quality of athletes competing for these spots continues to grow. The standard this program set last season is the baseline now and this roster is built to keep that momentum going as we prepare for Düsseldorf.”

“I am very excited for the announcement of our roster,” said Head Coach Rachel Lessard. “This group is explosive, smart and fearless. We rise through chaos, we love pressure, and we chase the toughest competition. Our culture is built for big moments. With the pieces we have in place, I feel we have everything we need to stand strong and be competitive on the world stage.”

The Top 24 roster represents the next phase of the selection process. The team will travel to Chula Vista in June for Training Camp, and the final 12 player roster that will represent Canada internationally will be announced ahead of the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships.
