Brampton, Ontario to host third Senior National Team ID Camp

In preparation for the 2015 IFAF Senior World Championship at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, Football Canada will host a Senior National Team identification camp on March 14, 2015 in Brampton, Ontario at Wild Water Kingdom Sport Complex (7855 Finch Ave W., Brampton, ON  L6T 0B2). On-field evaluations will begin at 2 PM ET sharp while registration takes place at noon.

The Ontario camp marks the third regional identification camp after Montreal and Moose Jaw hosted Team Canada hopefuls on December 13 and January 18 respectively.

Players born in 1995 or before with a Canadian citizenship and who are current or former members of their respective provincial football association in good standing with Football Canada will be eligible to attend the identification camps. The targeted groups of athletes include CIS, CJFL, CEGEP and European league players in their last year of eligibility as well as former CIS, CJFL, NCAA and CFL players.

Players interested in attending are asked to complete the pre-registration form which can be found HERE. Team Canada hopefuls are required to bring their own shoulder pads, jersey, helmet, mouth guard and proper footwear. Please note that due to space and time constraints there will be a limit of 125 players per camp.

Canada’s coaching staff is comprised of some of the top coaches in Canadian university football. Greg Marshall (Western) returns to the staff taking over as head coach from legendary Western coach Larry Haylor, along with Jeff Cummins, defensive line (Acadia); Blake Nill, linebackers; and Steve Sumarah, running backs (Carleton). Rounding out the coaching staff are Glen Constantin, defensive coordinator (Laval); Kelly Jeffrey, offensive coordinator (Mt. Allison); and Stefan Ptaszek, receivers (McMaster).

The 2015 Senior World Championship will mark Canada’s second entry into the tournament held every four years since 1999. Canada captured silver at their inaugural 2011 competition in Austria. Canada’s roster included a number of past and current CFL players including Shamawd Chambers (Edmonton Eskimos), Lirim HajrullahuMichel-Pierre Pontbriand and Jake Thomas (Winnipeg Blue Bombers), Matt Walter (Calgary Stampeders), Matt Norman (BC Lions) as well as former CFL standout Adriano Belli.
