Prospective Canadian university football student-athletes are reminded that they must register with U Sports (formerly CIS) Central to be eligible for official visits and more.

Who needs to register for U Sports Central?
The student-athlete registration centre is for any prospective U Sports football player who wants to take an official recruiting visit (i.e. one that the institution pays for). U Sports Central will eventually streamline processes relating to athletic and academic awards, student-athlete and member communications, letters of intent, international programs, Athletic Financial Awards, CCES anti-doping education, and more. In short, U Sports Central will become a valuable multi-purpose tool benefitting student-athletes in a variety of ways.
What happens if I don’t register?
It should preclude prospective U Sports football players from taking an official recruiting visit. Coaches and athletic department staff are aware that registration is mandatory, so they shouldn’t schedule official visits with any football player who doesn’t provide them with a U Sports ID number.

About U Sports Central
The student-athlete registration centre allows for tracking and monitoring of football recruiting under the new recruiting regulations which were implemented primarily with the purpose of ensuring a fair and level playing field between schools and protecting the best interest of student-athletes. The portal will also gather data which will help U Sports better understand its student-athletes, what they need and how they can improve their ability to service their needs as well as elevate their experiences.
How does U Sports Central work?
During the registration process, the prospective student-athlete will receive a unique U Sports Central Identification Number that will follow them throughout the recruiting process and their U Sports athletic career. Once a prospective football student-athlete has registered, U Sports coaches and recruits will share responsibility for tracking the number of visits that recruit has taken, and the compliance of each of those visits with U Sports rules, regulations, and policies.
Registration
The one-time fee for registering is $50.00 for each Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and $75.00 for each international recruit. The 5-minute U Sports Central registration will be supplemented and enhanced by additional modules to be rolled out in this and future years, and for no additional cost each registered student-athlete will ultimately end up with a personal profile covering all of that individual’s U Sports activities.
