Football Canada AGM to be Rescheduled

by FBC

Ottawa, ON/Vancouver, BC – Due to restrictions in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, Football Canada will reschedule the Annual General Meeting. The AGM was originally scheduled for St. John’s, NL, June 18-20. It will be rescheduled for a later date via video conference. Football Canada will announce the new AGM date and time by May 1.

“Circumstances forced this difficult decision upon us as Football Newfoundland and Labrador was looking forward to making a big impact for the visibility of the sport in their home province,” Football Canada president Jim Mullin said.

“Bringing Canada’s football community to meeting on the rock remains a top priority,” Mullin said. “We will approach delay as a year-long practice as we will offer the 2021 AGM hosting duties Football Newfoundland and Labrador.”

Football Newfoundland and Labrador is now looking forward to hosting the football nation in the summer of 2021 according to FNL President Tom Fleming.

“Although we are disappointed, Football Newfoundland and Labrador believe that postponing the 2020 AGM is the right call.  We are grateful for the opportunity to host the 2021 AGM. We look forward to showcasing our beautiful home and how far the game of football has developed in the province.” Fleming said.

The 2020 AGM will be conducted with all members of the Board of Directors and delegates of all 10 members present via video link.

“We are fortunate to have conducted a special meeting with the Board and membership in October and took learnings from that meeting which should lead to an improved delivery this time around,” Mullin said.

The Football Canada moratorium on face-to-face meetings, training, practice and play remains in effect indefinitely for all members and is strongly recommended for non-member stakeholders based on the recommendation of regional, provincial and federal governmental and health authorities.

The football community can expect more information from Football Canada in regard to the summer events season in the coming days and weeks.
