Football Canada member coaches (touch, flag and tackle) are reminded that the e-learning module, Making Head Way in Football, is mandatory at the start of league’s respective seasons.

A compliment to the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), the Making Head Way in Football e-learning module is offered in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada and is available free of charge.

This football specific NCCP Professional Development module covers:  what to do to prevent concussions, how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion, what to do when you suspect an athlete has a concussion, and how to ensure athletes return to play safely.

The module can be taken through coach.ca’s database The Locker. To begin, you will require an NCCP#. If you have never taken an NCCP course and need an NCCP# one can be created upon registration with The Locker.

Players and parents are also encouraged to take the e-learning module to help increase their knowledge and awareness.

Who does the new requirement apply to? 

The requirement to complete Making Head Way in Football applies to all coaches who are members of Football Canada through their respective provincial football association (e.g. Football Alberta, Football Quebec). It also applies to all coach disciplines: flag, touch and tackle football.

Please double check your online transcript to ensure that you have completed the module. If you have previously completed the module you comply with the new regulation.

How do I check my online transcript?

Sign-in to coach.ca’s The Locker and click on transcript.

I can’t remember my password or NCCP#. How do I find my NCCP# or locker login credentials?

Option 1: Online through the locker.

Visit thelocker.coach.ca/ and click on NCCP# lookup. The page will ask you for your email address. You can also lookup your NCCP# if you don’t have an email address by supplying your first and last name in addition to your date of birth. If you require additional assistance please contact coach services using option two below.

If I’ve already taken Making Head Way in Football, can I take it again?

Yes. You can retake the module as many times as you’d like.
