BCPFA changes name to Football BC

by Braydon Stachel

Vancouver, BC – The British Columbia Provincial Football Association (BCPFA) is pleased to announce a formal name change for the organization. Effective January 1st, our association has adopted “Football British Columbia” as its new name.

The name change aligns with how many members of the football community reference the provincial football association (Football BC). It also aligns with the naming format used by other provincial football organizations across Canada and with many of the provincial organizations in BC that govern other sports.

A new logo has been developed to reflect the name change to Football British Columbia. The logo (and its variations) includes a wordmark and ball icon that will be used in future communications and marketing materials.

The logo uses the traditional colours of orange and black, which remain synonymous with the sport of football in British Columbia. It also incorporates several design elements that connect us with our past, represent the geography of British Columbia, and highlight our strong ties to the BC Lions.

Football BC President Kevin Parks welcomed the introduction of the new logo:
“We are excited to rebrand our organization in a manner that celebrates the great heritage of our sport, the iconic features of our great province, and of course, our support of the BC Lions.”

Football Canada Marketing and Communications Manager Braydon Stachel added:
“The rebranding to Football British Columbia represents an exciting step forward for this organization and the culture of football in BC. We look forward to continuing our work with Football BC and their incredible team to create more opportunities for players, coaches, and communities alike to engage with the game.”

The URL www.footballbc.com has also been secured to ensure the effective communication of the name change. A new and updated website incorporating the new logo and associated branding changes will be launched in the coming weeks.

About the Organization

Football British Columbia (Football BC) is the provincial sport governing body responsible for the governance, promotion, and development of the sport of football in British Columbia. We are dedicated to supporting and assisting the development of football throughout the province. About the Sport

The sport of football was first played in British Columbia in the 1880s and is now played throughout the province. Football is played both as a contact sport (tackle) and as a non-contact sport (flag or touch). In 2028, football will be included in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles for the first time since 1932.
