Patrick Bourgon added as Offensive Assistant for Canada’s Men’s National Flag Football Team
Ottawa, ON – June 3rd – Football Canada is pleased to welcome Patrick Bourgon to the Men’s National Flag Football Team coaching staff as an Offensive Assistant. Bringing a seasoned football mind with over a decade of coaching and personnel experience across the CFL, U SPORTS, and international levels, Bourgon brings a wealth of knowledge and technical expertise as Team Canada prepares for major international competition.
Bourgon spent over a decade with the Ottawa REDBLACKS, serving in a variety of coaching roles between 2013 and 2023. During his CFL tenure, he coached linebackers, defensive backs, and special teams and contributed to the REDBLACKS’ 2016 Grey Cup championship season. His experience includes game planning, film breakdown, play design, and player development, working alongside some of the CFL’s top coaching minds across multiple units and phases of the game.
Internationally, Bourgon served as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Villepinte Diables Rouges in France’s top American football league, leading the nation in total defense, points allowed, and takeaways. He also coached at the CEGEP level with Champlain St-Lambert, holding coordinator roles on both defense and special teams.
Currently the Defensive Coordinator at Collège Bourget in Quebec’s Division 1 RSEQ high school league, Bourgon continues to shape young athletes through structured systems, video analysis, and strategic planning—all assets that translate seamlessly into the high-speed, detail-oriented demands of flag football.
Bourgon joins a national team staff focused on building toward Olympic qualification. He joins the national team ahead of the International Bowl in Los Angeles from June 21–22, 2025, and the IFAF Americas Flag Championship in Panama, scheduled for September 12–14, 2025.
