Canada’s Junior National Teams Compete at Junior International Cup in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, California — Following a week of training and development at Football Canada’s National Flag Football Training Camp in Chula Vista, Canada’s four Junior National Teams travelled to Los Angeles to compete in the Junior International Cup from June 19–21.
The tournament brought together some of the top young flag football athletes from across North America and provided a valuable opportunity for Canada’s next generation of National Team athletes to gain international experience while representing the Maple Leaf.
Throughout the weekend, Canada’s 15U Girls, 15U Boys, 17U Girls, and 17U Boys teams competed against high-level opposition, building on the lessons learned during training camp and continuing their development within Football Canada’s National Flag Football pathway.
15U Girls
The 15U Girls opened tournament play on Friday evening before returning to action with multiple games on Saturday and won in the Bronze medal game.

- Game 3: Panama – 20-14 W
- Placement Game: Panama – 19-15 L
- Bronze Medal: Azteca – 43-32 W
15U Boys
The 15U Boys competed in three preliminary-round contests before advancing to a consolation match on Sunday,

- Game 2: Japan – 27-20 L
- Game 3: New Zealand – 32-20 L
- Placement Game: USA – 30-0 L
- Consolation: Australia – 21-18 W
17U Girls
The 17U Girls took part in games throughout the weekend as they tested themselves against international competition and came out with a Bronze medal.

- Game 2: New Zealand – 41-12 W
- Game 3: USA – 35-26 L
- Placement Game: Japan– 36-6 W
- Semifinal: Azteca – 21-12 L
- Third Place: Panama – 38-6 W
17U Boys
The 17U Boys completed a busy tournament schedule highlighted by multiple competitive matchups throughout the weekend and made it to the finals, taking second place.

- Game 1: Panama – 35-27 W
- Game 2: Australia – 33-0 W
- Game 3: Japan – 33-14 W
- Placement Game TBD: South Korea – 47-12 W
- Semifinal: Panama – 24-14 W
- Final: USA – 49-42 L
Building Toward the Future
The Junior International Cup marked an important milestone for Football Canada’s National Flag Football program, providing athletes with the opportunity to compete internationally while continuing to develop within Canada’s high-performance pathway.
Combined with the National Team training camp in Chula Vista, the weekend represented another significant step in preparing Canada’s next generation of athletes for future international competitions while continuing to grow the sport from coast to coast.
