Football Canada Congratulates Canadian QB Kurtis Rourke on Manning Award Finalist Selection

by Braydon Stachel

Kurtis Rourke, a native of Oakville, Ontario, and senior quarterback for the Indiana Hoosiers, has been named a finalist for the Manning Award. This honour is bestowed annually upon the top collegiate quarterback in the United States, recognizing excellence throughout the season, including postseason bowl performances.

Rourke’s 2024 season has been exceptional, leading Indiana to a remarkable 11-1 record and 3rd overall in the Big Ten conference. He showcased outstanding skill and leadership, completing 202 of 287 pass attempts (70.4% completion rate) for 2,827 yards, averaging 9.9 yards per attempt. His impressive touchdown-to-interception ratio stands at 27 touchdowns to just 4 interceptions, culminating in a passer rating of 181.38.

Notably, Rourke was honoured as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week on September 18, 2024, following an electric performance against Iowa State, where he completed 25 of 33 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns.

The Manning Award, established by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004, is unique in that it includes candidates’ bowl game performances in its assessment. Named in honour of the Manning family’s quarterback legacy—Archie, Peyton, and Eli—the award celebrates collegiate excellence at the quarterback position.

Football Canada extends its heartfelt congratulations to Kurtis Rourke on this significant achievement. His dedication and performance continue to inspire young Canadian athletes, exemplifying the growing impact of Canadian talent in American collegiate football.
