Football Canada announces schedule for 2022 Collegiate Flag Championship
OTTAWA – Football Canada can confirm the schedule for the inaugural National Collegiate Flag Football Championship will be held at Carleton University in Ottawa from May 6 to 7.
The event will host 10 women’s teams: the Université de Montréal Carabins (RSEQ champions), the UQAM Citadins (RSEQ finalists), Saskatchewan North, two teams from the University of Regina (Green and Yellow), the University of Toronto, and two teams from The Western University of Ontario (Purple and White), along with provincial teams from Nova Scotia and Manitoba.
“It’s our goal to continue to engage with Canadian university football conferences to get varsity recognition for women’s flag football nationwide. Creating the CCFFC national championship is the first step toward the goal, but it will take steady work to get there,” said Jim Mullin, president of Football Canada.
Action gets underway at 1 p.m. on May 6, with Regina Yellow taking on Montreal and Toronto playing Manitoba. Pool play continues through Saturday afternoon, with the semifinals set for 4:30 p.m. on May 7 and the championship game following at 8:30 p.m.
