New Website for Football Canada
DATE: 06/04/2021
INCREASED INTERACTIVITY DESIGNED TO IMPROVE USER EXPERIENCE
Football Canada is pleased to announce the launch of its new website. The new FootballCanada.com was guided by staff working with Ottawa-based web design firm Baytek over the last nine months. It is the first redesign in seven years.
Visitors to the new FootballCanada.com will experience a more interactive site with improved visual design, video access and new player profile sections. In addition, the website features a more simplified layout and site navigation, enabling users to quickly find the content and resources they may be searching for. The goal is for users to be able to find information with fewer clicks.
Special attention has been paid to access on mobile devices. More than half of users now access FootballCanada.com on their mobile devices. The new website is mobile optimized at FootballCanadaMobile.com and addresses this continuing shift.
‘The new Football Canada website provides users with a more seamless experience on both a desktop and mobile device,” Jim Mullin, President of Football Canada, said.
“With a more organized site map and the new resource library, key information for everyone from athletes to administrators will be easy to find. Also, the addition of the player profiles allows us to showcase better the athletes who go through our National Team program.” said Shannon Donovan, Executive director of Football Canada.
Football Canada’s website provides information and resources to officials, coaches, players, media and the general public on topics related to all levels of amateur football. The pages that receive the most views are those about officiating and coaching resources, as well as event pages. Since 2017, this invaluable resource has averaged approximately 300,000 visits per year and has had a total of more than 1.4 million page views.
Football Canada staff is focused on developing and expanding content, data and information after the launch.
With event status updates and ‘Return to Football’ guidelines, groups have relied more heavily on the website since the onset of COVID-19. In partnership with its member organizations, Football Canada remains committed to helping players and teams stay on the field safely.
