Eryk Bujalski is a linebacker from Winnipeg, Manitoba who will represent Canada this upcoming January at the 2018 International Bowl in Arlington, Texas.

The linebacker got his gridiron start with the Fort Garry Lions six years ago.  When he began he was an offensive lineman but made the smooth transition to the linebacker position in his second year at the peewee level with the team.

In addition to the Lions, Bujalski has played for the Vincent Massey Trojans of the Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL).

The highlight of the Winnipeg native’s career was in 2015 when the Trojans won the Avanets Bowl, which is the WHSFL Championship.

“That was the first Avanets Bowl for our school so that was an amazing opportunity,” reflected Bujalski.  “It was an amazing learning experience.”

Last July, the linebacker represented his province for the second straight year as a member of Team Manitoba at the 2017 Football Canada Cup in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

“It was great,” recalled the defensive standout of the tournament.  “It was a lot of competition but it was amazing.”

“The coaching was amazing.  I learned a lot playing with other athletes from around Canada, competing at a high level mentally and physically in the sport.”

Speechless when he learned that he was selected for the National Under-18 team, Bujalski is honoured to have the opportunity to play at the 2018 International Bowl.

“I am grateful that I can represent this great country along with the whole team,” the linebacker said.  “I’m looking forward to the high level of intensity and coaching because these are the best of the best.”

“They will push us because we only have a week to prepare for this and I am looking forward to adapting with the team and becoming good, hard-working and competing against the USA.”

Bujalski credits his coaches for giving him some invaluable tools on and off the field.

“They teach respect, respect in the community and great character,” commented the defensive standout.

Additionally, he wouldn’t have been able to achieve his goals without the support and encouragement of his parents.

“They emigrated here from Poland and they’ve built our lives up to get us where we are today,” expressed Bujalski.  “They’ve taught me to work hard and that nothing comes for free.”

“They are really motivating for me.”
