Oliver Longpre is a running back from Sackville, New Brunswick who will be participating at the 2018 International Bowl in Arlington, Texas as a member of the U16 Eastern Canadian Team.
The running back got his first introduction to the sport when he was young.
“I was just playing in elementary school and in the yard,” recalled Longpre. “I was always a fast kid, so they gave me the ball and I would run down and score a touchdown.”
“I got introduced really quickly and I really enjoyed it.”
Among the teams the offensive standout has played for include the peewee Titans in Sackville as well as the Tantramar Titans of the New Brunswick High School Football League (NBHSFL).
Last July, Longpre played in the U16 Eastern Challenge as a part of Team New Brunswick.
“It was just fun just playing against all the best players in the Atlantic Region and seeing where I am at right now as a player,” reflected Longpre of the tournament.
With the upcoming International Bowl, Longpre is looking forward to the opportunity to showcase his talents and mark a personal moment in the process.
“This is a huge honour and I worked very hard,” expressed Longpre. “It means so much.”
“I just want to play. I’ve never been on a plane before so that’s going to be a whole other experience.”
